Annual rate and/or loss cost filings are no longer required by the South Dakota Division of Insurance. This Bulletin does not apply to workers compensation or crop-hail loss cost multipliers. All rates approved in South Dakota will be effective until such time as the insurance company files for a revision. If an insurance company is a member of a rating organization and the insurance company has given the rating organization authorization to make filings on their behalf, the insurance company will need to do the following: 1) If the insurance company is adopting the filing as it was approved by the Division of Insurance, no action by the insurance company is required. 2) If the insurance company is not going to adopt the filing at all, a letter advising the Division of their intent not to adopt is all that is required. 3) If the insurance company is going to adopt the filing, but use a different effective date than the approved filing, a letter advising the Division of the effective date is all that is required.
