ARSD 61:08:09:48. Repair of welded butt joints

Welded butt joints must have complete penetration and fusion for the full length of the weld. The surfaces of the weld may be left as welded, if they are sufficiently free from coarse ripples and valleys to avoid stress concentration points. The owner may not overlay a weakened area with a patch.
