Use Of Psychotropic Medications

(1)
The facility must obtain the following when psychotropic medications are used:
(a)
A diagnosis that is based on a comprehensive psychiatric assessment; and
(b)
Reasons for prescribing medications.
(2)
The facility must ensure that there is informed consent from the person supported or his/her
legal representative (conservator, parent, guardian, or legal custodian) prior to utilizing
psychotropic medications.
