Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact
Cite as Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 1150-02-.22
Pursuant to T.C.A. § 63-13-502, the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact (the Compact) was
enacted to facilitate interstate practice of occupational therapy with the goal of improving public access to
occupational therapy services. The practice of occupational therapy occurs in the state where the
patient/client is located at the time of the patient/client encounter. The Compact preserves the regulatory
authority of states to protect public health and safety through the current system of state licensure. The
Compact Rules shall have the force of law in each Member State. A licensee providing occupational
therapy in a remote state under the Compact privilege shall function within the laws and regulations of the
remote state. Any laws in a member state that conflict with the Compact are superseded to the extent of
the conflict.
