(a) A person who holds a valid license or temporary license from the board has the right to use the title "physician assistant," the abbreviation "PA," or the abbreviation "PA-C." No other person may assume that title or use those abbreviations, or any words, signs, letters, or devices to indicate that the person using them is a physician assistant. (b) A person who meets the qualifications for licensure under this chapter but does not possess a current license may use the title "PA," "physician assistant," or "PA-C," but may not act or practice as a PA unless licensed under this chapter. (c) This section does not apply to public accountants or certified public accountants. This section does not prevent a public accountant from using the abbreviation "P.A.". Amended by 2021 Tenn.
