Correction to the Public Protection Classification (PPC) for Mont Belvieu

Home Bulletins bullet02 b-0046-2.html August 2, 2002 To:   ALL PROPERTY AND CASUALTY INSURANCE COMPANIES Re:   Correction to the Public Protection Classification (PPC) for Mont Belvieu This is to inform you that the community of Mont Belvieu, Texas was inadvertently assigned an incorrect Public Protection Classification (PPC). The Insurance Services Office assigned a PPC of 6 to Mont Belvieu; however, the correct PPC is 5. As a result, policies have been written at slightly higher rates. To reflect the correct premium for the approved PPC, insurers are requested to amend any policies issued on or after February 01, 1998, or on or after the effective date of the individual insurer´s filing of benchmark rates if the filing was effective later than February 1, 1998. Insurers may use the most reasonable and economically feasible method of correcting policies to reflect the correct PPC and providing any necessary return premium to the insurers.
