R911-12-4. Minimum Standards

(1) An employer seeking to provide non-911 emergency medical services shall: (a) maintain insurance meeting or exceeding the amounts in Section R911-3-5; (b) employ a medical director; and (c) establish protocols as required under Section R911-4-500. (2) In a non-911 setting, an EMS employee shall initiate 911 emergency services when they encounter: (a) a situation that presents an imminent or potential threat to the patient's health or safety; (b) a patient that shows signs of serious injury or illness; or (c) a patient that requires transport to a higher level of care. (3) An EMS employee is not required to initiate 911 emergency services under Subsection (2) if the patient is in a facility equipped and staffed to provide adequate treatment. (4)(a) An employer that employs an EMS employee under this rule shall maintain medical documentation as required in Subsection 53-2d-210(2)(e) for at least seven years from the date of patient discharge. (b) Records shall be accessible during normal business hours within 24 hours of the request by the bureau.
