WAC 246-919-970. Coprescribing of opioids with certain medications

(1) The physician shall not knowingly prescribe opioids in combination with the following medications without documentation of medical decision making: (a) Benzodiazepines; (b) Barbiturates; (c) Sedatives; (d) Carisoprodol; or (e) Nonbenzodiazepine hypnotics. (2) If, because of a prior prescription by another provider, a prescription written by a physician results in a combination of opioids and medications described in subsection (1) of this section, the physician issuing the new prescription shall consult with the other prescriber to establish a patient care plan surrounding these medications. This provision does not apply to emergency care.
