WAC 296-307-26036. Other requirements that apply to fixed stairs

(1) Vertical clearance above any stair tread to an overhead obstruction must be at least 7 feet measured from the leading edge of the tread. (2) Stairs with treads less than 9 inches wide should have open risers. (3) Open grating type treads are desirable for outside stairs.
