Recognize emergencies and initiate a response. The employer must make sure employees follow procedures in your emergency response plan to: (1) Recognize when an emergency response must be initiated; (2) Notify employees, and others designated in your plan, of the release; (3) Follow immediate emergency procedures; (4) Prevent the incident from increasing in severity or to secure the operation.
