WAC 296-806-42038. Guard chain conveyors that are used as a transfer mechanism

You must guard chain conveyors whose moving chains cannot be enclosed without impairing their function by one of the following methods: (1) Distance as required in, make sure safeguarding by distance meets these requirements, WAC 296-806-20056 . (2) Personnel barriers. (3) Warning signs where personnel barriers are not practical. Note: Chain conveyors with moving chains that cannot be enclosed include those: 1. Mounted within another conveyor. 2. Raised and lowered as a transfer mechanism.
