WAC 296-806-42040. Prevent material from falling off of elevator conveyors

(1) You must install strong guards, screens, or barricades to prevent material from falling in any direction into the shaft way of elevator-type conveyors, except at loading and unloading areas. (2) You must install automatic shaft way gates or suitable barriers at each floor level where material is loaded or unloaded.
