WAC 110-149-0330. Kinship licensing process

(1) Caregivers applying to become licensed kinship caregivers must: (a) Collaborate with their licensor to complete the licensing process, which includes, but is not limited to: (i) Providing: (A) The required licensing documents as outlined in the licensing provider portal; and (B) Verification that the caregivers are at least 18 years old; (ii) Completing the background checks requirements for all household members, per chapter 110-04 WAC; and (iii) Participating in: (A) A home study; (B) An inspection of their home; and (C) Additional assessments, in rare circumstances when related to the safety and specific needs of the children or youth in care including, but not limited to: (I) Mental health; (II) Substance abuse; or (III) Collaterals; and (b) Complete the kinship licensing process prior to the 90th day of the initial license being issued to avoid a break in foster care reimbursement payment. (2) Caregivers have the right to: (a) Access caregiver support at any time during the licensing process; and (b) Request a review of their concerns regarding the licensing process. (3) The department or CPA may withdraw a caregiver's application if they are not engaging in the licensing process.
