(1) The neurological form of equine herpes virus (EHV1) is a contagious equine disease that can cause respiratory disease, neurological disease, and abortion. (2) Horses that show clinical signs consistent with neurological EHV1 and test positive to a PCR test for neurological EHV1 will be dealt with by the state veterinarian on a case-by-case basis.
