WEST VIRGINIA INFORMATIONAL LETTER NO. 73 JUNE 1990 TO: ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES LICENSED TO TRANSACT ACCIDENT AND SICKNESS BUSINESS IN WEST VIRGINIA AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES RE: TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DISORDER (TMD) AND CRANIOMANDIBULAR DISORDER (CMD) REGULATION Pursuant to Senate Bill 252, effective July 1, 1989, the Insurance Commissioner and a six member advisory panel were mandated to establish a Regulation regarding the diagnosis and treatment for temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) and craniomandibular disorder (CMD). It was further stipulated that all insurers who deliver or issue for delivery in this State any policies for accident and sickness insurance will be subject to this law. The TMJ Committee has completed this assignment and the enclosed Regulation was approved by Secretary Charles Lorensen on May 24, 1990. This Regulation will be filed with the Secretary of States Office on Wednesday, August 1, 1990, which will also be its effective date. Please take the necessary action to comply with this Regulation.
