RE: 1986 Election Calendar Dear Mr. McCuen: This official opinion is in response to your recent request -for this office to examine the election calendar prepared by your staff for the year 1986. Based upon my examination of this calendar, I find all dates to be in conformity with the Arkansas Statutes and Arkansas Constitution with the excep- tion of the following two. 1. This office calculates January 24, 1986 as the date for the deadline for filing the petition of candidacy for the school board with the county board of education pursuant to Ark. Stat. Ann. §80~308. 2. This office calculates George Washington's Birthday (a state holiday pursuant to Ark. Stat. Ann. §69-101), to be the third Monday in February of 1986 or February 17, 1986.
