903. DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS

903 Duties of the Officers 903.1 It shall be the duty of the Chair to preside at all meetings of the Board, to appoint committees not otherwise provided for, and to sign all papers, communications, and instruments which may require the Chair’s official signature. The Chair shall exercise a general supervision over the affairs of the Library Board of Trustees and shall be an ex officio member of all committees. The Chair may vote in the election of officers and in the appointment or removal of the Chief Librarian or Executive Director. The Chair may also vote on other issues if the vote would change the result or if the vote is taken by secret ballot. 903.2 In the absence of the Chair, the Vice Chair shall preside at all meetings of the Board and shall generally discharge all duties of the Chair in case of the latter’s absence from the District of Columbia or inability to act. 903.3 The duties of the Chief Librarian or Executive Director as Secretary of the Board shall be to keep permanent record of the meetings of the Board, to have custody of the records and general papers of the Board, and to perform the other functions usual to the office. The duties of the Chief Librarian or Executive Director as Treasurer of the Board shall be to keep the financial accounts of the Library.
