TRINIDAD NAVARRO COMMISSIONER STATE OF DELAWARE DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE ## AGENTS BULLETIN NO. 18 (Revised) ## EMERGENCY CATASTROPHIC (CAT) ADJUSTER AND APPRAISER BULLETIN TO: ALL EMERGENCY CAT ADJUSTERS AND APPRAISERS RE: NOTIFICATION/LICENSING REQUIREMENTS TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY ADJUSTMENT WORK IN DELAWARE DATE: September 12, 2010 REVISED: June 5, 2017 May 16, 2022 The purpose of Agents Bulletin No. 18 as revised is to extend limited licensing exemption to include appraisers who are dispatched by insurers to the State after catastrophic events. The following provisions of Agents Bulletin No. 18 issued on September 10, 2010 and revised on June 5, 2017 remain in effect: No license shall be required for any adjuster or appraiser sent into this State on behalf of an insurer for the investigation or adjustment of a particularly unusual or extraordinary loss, or series of losses, resulting from a catastrophe common to all such losses, provided that such adjuster or appraiser shall furnish to the Commissioner written notice within 10 calendar days of any such catastrophic insurance adjustment work... Emergency CAT licenses shall be issued for 60 days unless extended by the Commissioner. Requests to extend the emergency CAT license must be faxed to (302) 736-7906 or emailed to Licensing@delaware.gov with an explanation of the need for the extension. There is no charge for the license. A small transaction fee will be assessed for completing the application process... Emergency CAT Adjusters and Appraisers must apply for a license online through www.nipr.com, and must download and print the license from the following link: www.statebasedsystems.com/solar/index.html. The Emergency CAT licensee is required to carry this license, along with a photo ID, to gain access to disaster areas during an emergency.
