§ 3214. Regular Army: enlisted members on active duty The authorized strength of the Regular Army in enlisted members on active duty, exclusive of officer candidates, is 837,000 less the number of members of the Army on active duty who are neither enlisted members of the Regular Army nor members of the Army in the categories listed in section 3201 (a) (1)–(4) of this title.
