waiver of reporting requirements Sec. 206. Section 306(b) of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (as so redesignated by section 207 of this Act), relating to formal requirements respecting reports and statements, is amended to read as follows: “(b) The Commission may, by a rule of general applicability which is published in the Federal Register not less than 30 days before its effective date, relieve— “(1) any category of candidates of the obligation to comply personally with the reporting requirements of section 304, if it determines that such action is consistent with the purposes of this Act; and 88 Stat. 1279 “(2) any category of political committees of the obligation to comply with the reporting requirements of such section if such committees— “(A) primarily support persons seeking State or local office; and “(B) do not operate in more than one State or do not operate on a statewide basis.”.
