formal requirements for reports and statements Sec. 207. Section 306 of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, relating to formal requirements respecting reports and statements, is amended by striking out subsection (a); by redesignating subsections (b), (c), and (d) as subsections (a), (b), and (c), respectively; and by adding at the end thereof the following new subsection: “(d) If a report or statement required by section 303, 304(a) (1) (A) (ii), 304(a) (1) (B),3 04(a) (1) (C), or 304(e) of this title to be filed by a treasurer of a political committee or by a candidate or by any other person, is delivered by registered or certified mail, to the Commission or principal campaign committee with which it is required to be filed, the United States postmark stamped on the cover of the envelope or other container in which such report or statement is so mailed shall be deemed to be the date of filing.”.
