(a) Paragraph (1) of section 14(d) of the Act entitled “An Act to provide certain basic authority for the Department of State”, approved August 1, 1956, is amended to read as follows: “(1) the term ‘Foreign Service employee’ means any national of the United States who is a chief of mission, a Foreign Service officer, a Foreign Service information officer, a Foreign Service Reserve officer of limited or unlimited tenure, a Foreign Service staff officer or employee, a consular agent, or a United States representative to an international organization or commission;”. (b) The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply with respect to deaths occurring on or after January 1, 1973.
