Section 143 of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1973 is amended by inserting “(a)” immediately following “Sec. 143.” and by adding the following new subsection at the end thereof: “(b) The Secretary of Transportation is authorized and directed to study the feasibility of developing a multimodal concept along the route described in paragraph (1) of subsection (a) of this section, which study shall include an analysis of the environmental impact of such multimodal concept. The Secretary shall report to Congress the results of such a study not later than July 1, 1977.”.
