ADMINISTRATIVE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE GOLDWATER SCHOLARSHIP AND EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION PROGRAM.

SEC. 1179. ADMINISTRATIVE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE GOLDWATER SCHOLARSHIP AND EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION PROGRAM. (a) Terms of Office of Foundation Members.—Section 1404(c)(1) of the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Act (20 U.S.C. 4703(c)(1)) is amended— (1) by striking out “, and” at the end of subparagraph (A) and inserting in lieu thereof a semicolon; (2) by striking out the period at the end of subparagraph (B) and inserting in lieu thereof “; and”; and (3) by adding at the end the following new subparagraph: “(C) notwithstanding the term limitation provided for under this paragraph, a member appointed under subsection (b) may continue to serve under such appointment until the successor to the member is appointed.”. (b) Lease Authority.—Section 1411(a)(7) of such Act (20 U.S.C. 4710(a)(7)) is amended by striking out “the District of Columbia” and inserting in lieu thereof “the Washington, District of Columbia, metropolitan area”.
