SEC. 819. LOCAL FIREFIGHTER AND EMERGENCY SERVICES TRAINING. (a) Grant Authorization.— The Attorney General, in consultation with the Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, may make grants to provide specialized training and equipment to enhance the capability of metropolitan fire and emergency service departments to respond to terrorist attacks. (b) Authorization of Appropriations.— There are authorized to be appropriated for fiscal year 1997, $5,000,000 to carry out this section.
