SEC. 320. CHICAGO LOCK AND THOMAS J. O’BRIEN LOCK, ILLINOIS.The project for navigation, Chicago Harbor, Lake Michigan, Illinois, for which operation and maintenance responsibility was transferred to the Secretary under chapter IV of title I of the Supplemental Appropriations Act, 1983 (97 Stat. 311), and section 107 of the Energy and Water Development Appropriation Act, 1982 (95 Stat. 1137), is modified to direct the Secretary to conduct a study to determine the feasibility of making such structural repairs as are necessary to prevent leakage through the Chicago Lock and the Thomas J. O’Brien Lock, Illinois, and to determine the need for installing permanent flow measurement equipment at such locks to measure any leakage. The Secretary may carry out such repairs and installations as are necessary following completion of the study.
