SEC. 641. REQUIREMENT TO SUBMIT END STRENGTHS AND MANPOWER REPORT FOR MEDICAL PERSONNEL (a) End Strength Requirement.—Section 115(b)(1) of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subparagraph: “(D) At the same time the President submits the budget for any fiscal year to Congress pursuant to section 1105 of title 31, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to Congress recommendations for the end strength levels for medical personnel for each component of the armed forces as of the end of that fiscal year. For purposes of this subparagraph, the term ‘medical personnel’ includes— “(i) in the Army, members of the Medical Corps, Dental Corps, Nurse Corps, Medical Service Corps, Veterinary Corps, and Army Medical Specialist Corps; “(ii) in the Air Force, members designated as medical officers, dental officers, Air Force nurses, medical service officers, and biomedical science officers; “(iii) in the Navy, members of the Medical Corps, Dental Corps, Nurse Corps, and Medical Service Corps; “(iv) enlisted personnel engaged in or supporting medically-related activities; and “(v) such other personnel as the Secretary considers appropriate.”. (b) Manpower Report Requirement.—Section 115(b)(3)(B) of such title is amended— (1) by striking out “and” at the end of clause (ii); 102 STAT. 1988 (2) by striking out the period at the end of clause (iii) and inserting in lieu thereof “; and”; and (3) by adding at the end the following new clause: “(iv) the manpower required to perform the medical missions of the armed forces and the Department of Defense.”.
