FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR OIL SPILL RESPONSE VESSELS.
SEC. 406. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR OIL SPILL RESPONSE VESSELS. Section 1004 of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (33 U.S.C. 2704) is amended— (1) in subsection (a)(1), by striking “(except” and all that follows through “Act)” and inserting a comma; and (2) by adding at the end of subsection (c) the following: “(4) Certain tank vessels.— Subsection (a)(1) shall not apply to— “(A) a tank vessel on which the only oil carried as cargo is an animal fat or vegetable oil, as those terms 112 STAT. 3430are used in section 2 of the Edible Oil Regulatory Reform Act; and “(B) a tank vessel that is designated in its certificate of inspection as an oil spill response vessel (as that term is defined in section 2101 of title 46, United States Code) and that is used solely for removal.”.
