BRIDGE MANAGEMENT STUDY.
SEC. 162. BRIDGE MANAGEMENT STUDY. (a) Investigation and Study.—The Secretary shall make a full and complete investigation and study of State bridge management programs for the purpose of determining whether or not States participating in the Federal bridge replacement and rehabilitation program under section 144 of title 23, United States Code, need to establish a comprehensive bridge management program. (b) Report.—Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Environment and Public Works of the Senate and the Committee on Public Works and Transportation of the House of Representatives a report on the results of the investigation and study conducted under subsection (a) together with recommendations (including legislative and administrative recommendations) concerning State establishment of comprehensive bridge management programs and any minimum requirements of such programs which the Secretary considers appropriate based on the findings of such investigation and study.
