SEC. 596. ESTABLISHMENT OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALTY IN THE ARMY. (a) New Specialty.—Chapter 307 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section: “§ 3083. Public Affairs Specialty “There is a career field in the Army known as the Public Affairs Specialty. Members of the Army with the Public Affairs Specialty are— “(1) the Chief of Public Affairs; “(2) commissioned officers of the Army in the grade of major or above who are selected and specifically educated, trained, and experienced to perform as professional public affairs officers for the remainder of their careers; and “(3) other members of the Army assigned to public affairs positions by the Secretary of the Army.”.111 STAT. 1766 (b) Clerical Amendment.—The table of sections at the beginning of such chapter is amended by adding at the end the following new item: “3083. Public Affairs Specialty.”.
