GRADE OF DEFENSE ATTACHE IN FRANCE.

SEC. 597. GRADE OF DEFENSE ATTACHE IN FRANCE. (a) In General.—Chapter 41 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 713 the following new section: “§ 714. Defense attache in France: required grade “An officer may not be selected for assignment to the position of defense attache to the United States embassy in France unless the officer holds (or is on a promotion list for promotion to) the grade of brigadier general or, in the case of the Navy, rear admiral (lower half).”. (b) Clerical Amendment.—The table of sections at the beginning of such chapter is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 713 the following new item: “714. Defense attache in France: required grade.”.
