SEC. 166. HIGHWAY FEASIBILITY STUDY. (a) Study.—The Secretary, in cooperation with the States of Louisiana, Arkansas, and Missouri, shall study the feasibility and necessity of constructing to appropriate standards a proposed highway along a route from Shreveport, Louisiana, to Texarkana, Fort Smith, and Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Carthage and Kansas City, Missouri. Such study shall update the feasibility study conducted under section 143(6) of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1973. (b) Federal Share.—The Federal share of the cost of conducting the study under this section shall be 65 percent. (c) Report.—Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall transmit to the Committee on Environment and Public Works of the Senate and the Committee on Public Works and Transportation of the House of Representatives a report on the results of the study conducted under this section.
