STUDY OF CHILD-REARING COSTS.
SEC. 128. STUDY OF CHILD-REARING COSTS. The Secretary of Health and Human Services shall, by grant or contract, conduct a study of the patterns of expenditures on children in 2-parent families, in single-parent families following divorce or separation, and in single-parent families in which the parents were never married, giving particular attention to the relative standards of living in households in which both parents and all of the children do not live together. The Secretary shall submit to the Congress no later than 2 years after the date of the enactment of this Act a full and complete report of the results of such study, including such recommendations as the Secretary may have for legislative, administrative, and other actions. There are authorized to be appropriated such sums as may be necessary to carry out this section.
