SEC. 162. CROP INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR COTTON AND RICE. Section 508(a) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act (7 U.S.C. 1508(a)), as amended by 145, is amended by adding at the end the following: “(8) Special provisions for cotton and rice.—Notwithstanding any other provision of this title, beginning with the 2001 crops of upland cotton, extra long staple cotton, and rice, the Corporation shall offer plans of insurance, including prevented planting coverage and replanting coverage, under this title that cover losses of upland cotton, extra long staple cotton, and rice resulting from failure of irrigation water supplies due to drought and saltwater intrusion.”.
