SEC. 443. MAXIMUM PERIOD OF RESIDENCE IN TRANSITIONAL HOUSING. Section 422(12)(A) of the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 11382(12)(A)) is amended in the first sentence by striking “within a reasonable amount of time, as determined by the Secretary” and inserting “within 24 months (or such longer period as the Secretary determines is necessary to facilitate the transition of homeless individuals to independent living)”.
