SUPPLEMENTAL AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.
SEC. 103. SUPPLEMENTAL AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.(a) Authorization of Appropriations.—In addition to amounts provided to the Coast Guard from another Federal agency for reimbursement of expenditures for Hurricane Katrina, there are authorized to be appropriated to the Secretary of the department in which the Coast Guard is operating the following amounts for nonreimbursed expenditures:(1) For the operation and maintenance of the Coast Guard in responding to Hurricane Katrina, including search and rescue efforts, clearing channels, and emergency response to oil and chemical spills, and for increased costs of operation and maintenance of the Coast Guard due to higher than expected fuel costs, $300,000,000.(2) For the acquisition, construction, renovation, and improvement of aids to navigation, shore and offshore facilities, and vessels and aircraft, including equipment related thereto, related to damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, $200,000,000.(b) Construction With Other Funding.—The amounts authorized to be appropriated by subsection (a) are in addition to any other amounts authorized to be appropriated to the Secretary of the department in which the Coast Guard is operating under any other provision of law.(c) Availability.—The amounts made available under subsection (a) shall remain available until expended.
