ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF PROHIBITION AGAINST REQUIRING CERTAIN INJURED MEMBERS TO PAY FOR MEALS PROVIDED BY MILITARY TREATMENT FACILITIES.

SEC. 603. ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF PROHIBITION AGAINST REQUIRING CERTAIN INJURED MEMBERS TO PAY FOR MEALS PROVIDED BY MILITARY TREATMENT FACILITIES.(a) Extension.—Section 402(h)(3) of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking “December 31, 2006” and inserting “December 31, 2007”.(b) Report on Administration of Prohibition.—Not later than February 1, 2007, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report on the administration of section 402(h) of title 37, United States Code. The report shall include—(1) a description and assessment of the mechanisms used by the military departments to implement the prohibition contained in such section; and(2) such recommendations as the Secretary considers appropriate regarding making such prohibition permanent.
