SEC. 1053. BARNEGAT INLET TO LITTLE EGG INLET, NEW JERSEY.(a) Project Modification.—The project for hurricane and storm damage reduction, Barnegat Inlet to Little Egg Inlet, New Jersey, authorized by section 101(a)(1) of the Water Resources Development Act of 2000 (114 Stat. 2576), is modified to authorize the Secretary of the Army to undertake, at Federal expense, such measures as the Secretary determines to be necessary and appropriate in the public interest to address the handling of munitions placed on the beach during construction of the project before the date of enactment of this section.(b) Treatment of Costs.—Costs incurred in carrying out subsection (a) shall not be considered to be a cost of constructing the project.(c) Credit.—The Secretary shall credit, in accordance with section 221 of the Flood Control Act of 1970 (42 U.S.C. 1962d-5b), toward the non-Federal share of the cost of the project the costs incurred by the non-Federal interest with respect to the removal and handling of the munitions referred to in subsection (a).(d) Eligible Activities.—Measures authorized by subsection (a) include monitoring, removal, and disposal of the munitions referred to in subsection (a).
