REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO STATE MINIMUM FIRE SAFETY STANDARDS

KING INSURANCE AND SAFETY FIRE COMMISSIONER DATE: DECEMBER 17, 2020 RE: REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO STATE MINIMUM FIRE SAFETY STANDARDS ____________________________________________________________________________________ Please allow this bulletin to address any conflicts present in the most current adopted edition of the Rules and Regulations of the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, 120-3-3 pertaining to the regulations for Tents. This agency was contacted regarding conflicting regulations regarding the most recent 2018 NFPA 101 Life Safety Code & 2018 International Fire Code addressing tents. Whereas the 2018 International Fire Code contains the more inclusive prescriptive code, the agency is providing the following guidelines: In NFPA 101 Life Safety Code 2018 edition Chapter 11, entirely delete: • Sections 11.11 through 11.11.4.4.2.2; • 11.11.6 through 11.11.6.2.3 Substitute the following applicable code: • 11.11.1.1 Tents Please note tents shall comply with the applicable requirements of the 2018 Edition of the International Fire Code Chapter 31 Tents, Temporary Special Event Structures and Other Membrane Structures.
