FILING OF CONTAINERS
____________________________________________________________________________________
In our continuing effort to better serve the public, this office is issuing the following Bulletin to
address complaints received regarding the delivery availability of LP-Gas to customers for home
heating purposes during low temperature conditions. To ensure that home heating systems
utilizing LP-Gas will continue to be served no matter the ownership of the container, effective
January 13, 2021, this office will be granting a 60-day exception to the requirements of Rules of
the Safety Fire Commissioner, Chapter 120-3-16.-07(2)(d)(1) prohibiting the introduction of LP-
Gas into a container without the written permission of the container owner. This exception shall
be granted only when a customer has been unable to secure a delivery of LP-Gas by the
container owner and the following conditions are met:
1. The exception shall only be applicable to Georgia licensed dealers in LP-Gas.
2. The licensed dealer in LP-Gas shall document the introduction of LP-Gas into any
container not owned by such dealer. This documentation shall include the customer
name, container location, date of fill, quantity of LP-Gas in the container prior to
filling, the quantity of LP-Gas introduced into the container, and the name of the
container owner. The documentation shall be maintained by the dealer for a period of
one year and shall also be provided to the owner of the container being filled.
