HAR §12-45.4-40. Fire door identification

Section 12.4.7 is added to read as follows: 12.4.7 Fire door identification. When required by the AHJ, a sign shall be displayed permanently near or on each required fire door in letters not less than one inch (twenty-five.four millimeters) high. The wording of the required sign can only be modified with prior written approval of the AHJ. The sign shall read as follows: FIRE DOOR DO NOT OBSTRUCT KEEP CLOSED [Eff ] (Auth: HRS §132-3) (Imp: HRS §132-3) (This came from the 1997 UFC section 1111.2.3. This amendment was revised because both messages are important & shall be provided. Originally there was an option to do ”FIRE DOOR DO NOT OBSTRUCT” or “FIRE DOOR KEEP CLOSED”.
