Custody And Placement
01. Interstate Placements. In interstate placements, a child may be placed with an approved unlicensed relative when delaying the placement would be harmful to the child’s well-being. In those cases, a subsequent request for foster care licensure will be made through the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children. (7-1-25) 02. Intrastate Placements That Become Interstate Placements. If a foster care placement that was initially intrastate becomes an interstate placement because the family with whom the child is placed relocates to another state, a request for foster care licensure will be made through the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children immediately upon the decision to move the child.
