35 Ill. Adm. Code 204.430
Greenhouse Gases (GHGs)
Section 204.430 Greenhouse Gases (GHGs)
"Greenhouse gases" or "GHGs" means the
air pollutant defined in 40 CFR 86.1818-12(a) as the aggregate group of six
greenhouse gases: CO
2
, nitrous oxide, methane, hydrofluorocarbons,
perfluorocarbons, and sulfur hexafluoride. To represent an amount of GHGs
emitted, the term "tpy CO
2
equivalent emissions (CO
2
e)"
shall be used. CO
2
e is computed as follows:
a) Multiply
the mass amount of emissions (tpy), for each of the six greenhouse gases in the
pollutant GHGs, by the gas' associated global warming potential published at 40
CFR 98, subpart A, table A-1 (Global Warming Potentials) (incorporated by
reference in Section 204.100).
b) Sum
the resultant value for each gas to compute tpy CO
2
e.
