820 IAC 4-4-5 Specific curriculum for manicurists

Sec. 5. (a) The following are the requirements for manicurist training: Subject Theory and Demonstration Sanitation and Actual Practice Total Hours Sanitation 80 80 Anatomy and disorders 30 30 Statutes and rules 15 15 Nail techniques with sanitation 60 43 103 (1) Basic preparation Tips Sculptures Overlays (2) Product application Gel nails Acrylic nails Manicuring 20 40 60 Pedicuring 10 15 25 Chemistry 20 20 Equipment 10 20 30 Personal development/business 15 15 Discretionary hours 72 72 Total 332 118 450 (b) Students are required to complete not fewer than the number of actual practice performances provided for in the progress report required by section 14 of this rule. (c) The nails on two (2) hands or two (2) feet constitute one (1) performance of a manicure or pedicure. All: (1) manicures; (2) pedicures; and (3) nail techniques; must be done on live models. (d) Students may not work on customers of the beauty culture school until they have completed a total of forty (40) hours. Customers shall be rotated according to the students' needs for practice on live models.
