Rule 601a. (1) Compliance with the drinking water standards specified in this part shall
be determined in accordance with the monitoring requirements in part 7 of these rules.
(2) Analytical results that are used to determine compliance with state drinking water
standards established in this part shall be performed by department or EPA-certified or
provisionally certified laboratories, except that measurements for alkalinity, bromide,
calcium, daily chlorite samples at the entrance to the distribution system, conductivity,
magnesium, orthophosphate, pH, residual disinfectant concentration, silica, specific
ultraviolet absorbance, temperature, and turbidity may be performed by personnel
acceptable to the department.
