Rule 14 . Extension or shortening of time.

(a) All motions for extensions of time shall be made upon 5 days’ notice to all parties. Such motion shall be made to the judge who is to try the case. (b) Except as provided in this rule, and except as otherwise provided in JCRCP 4 (i), no ex parte application for extension of time will be granted. Upon presentation of a motion for extension, if a satisfactory showing is made to the judge that a good-faith effort has been made to notify the opposing party of the motion, and the judge finds good cause therefor, the judge may order ex parte a temporary extension pending a determination of the motion. (c) For good cause shown, the judge who is to try the case, or if the judge is not in the courthouse during regular judicial hours, a different justice of the peace, may make an ex parte order shortening time upon a satisfactory showing to the judge that a good-faith effort has been made to notify the opposing party of the motion.
