August 17, 1989 SUBJECT: INSURANCE Circular Letter No. 1 (1989) WITHDRAWN Re: Systematic MGLMAP cessation Since March 1987 when it began operations., the Miscellaneous General Liability Market Assistance Program (MGLMAP), due to responsible insurers working with producer organizations under the auspices of this Department, has successfully helped numerous small businesses and start-up enterprises in New York State obtain general liability coverage during tight markets. Now, with improved market conditions, small businesses are generally able to obtain coverage in the voluntary market. Since MGLMAP applications have been received in over a year, MGLMAP will cease operations, according to the following schedule: (a) starting September 1, 1989, no new MGLMAP business will be accepted; and (b) on and after November 1, 1989, there will be no renewals through MGLMAP. Following MGLMAP cessation, if any small business has trouble finding coverage, please call our Hotline (800-522-4370) or contact: Charles Rappacciuolo (212-602-0309) Principal Insurance Examiner Property & Casualty Insurance Bureau 160 West Broadway -13th Floor New York, New York 10013 Very truly yours James P.
