BULLETIN NO. FIN 2010-01
TO:
INSURANCE COMPANIES AND SURPLUS LINES LICENSEES
RE:
OPTins
FROM:
OKLAHOMA INSURANCE DEPARTMENT
DATE:
SEPTEMBER 1, 2010
The Oklahoma Insurance Department has implemented OPTins (Online Premium Tax for Insurance) for
Insurance Companies and Surplus Lines Licensees. OPTins, a product of the National Association of
Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), has been developed to facilitate Premium Tax and Surplus Lines
submission of forms and payments that are due both quarterly and annually.
To enable a smooth transition, the Department will continue to accept paper filings and checks until the
third quarter filing but will require the use of OPTins beginning with the fourth quarter filing. We
strongly encourage you to begin using OPTins before the deadline.
The steps to submit your tax filing are very simple and require no formal training. Easy to follow
instructions are available at: http://www.optins.org. Once registered and set up, you will be able to log
in, upload your filing forms and submit your payment online. No more paper checks – everything is
electronic and tax forms along with the payment are received at the Insurance Department immediately
upon submission by the company or licensee.
Using OPTins allows you to save time and ensure that both the forms and payment are received together
and on time. To implement OPTins, contact the OPTins Marketing Team at optinsmktg@naic.org or call
(816) 783-8787.
