MEMO To: Insurers Licensed to Write Insurance in Tennessee From: Gary Farley, Assistant Commissioner for Fire Prevention Date: November 18, 2020 RE: Reporting required by Tenn. Code Ann. § 68-102-114 Tenn. Code Ann. § 68-102-114 requires insurance companies transacting business in Tennessee to report annually all fire losses on property insured in Tennessee. The Commissioner will accept reports from insurance companies made through the ISO ClaimSearch © database as meeting the reporting requirement. The Commissioner and State Fire Marshal may contact insurance companies for additional information relating to the reports filed to obtain more information if the information reported is not sufficient or complete. The statute above sets forth the information required in the report so please review those requirements when completing those reports. Insurance companies are, of course, free to report annually directly to the Department at Greg.Adams@tn.gov on or before February 1 covering the year ending December 31 preceding the report and are not required to report through the ISO ClaimSearch ©. Again, Tenn. Code Ann. § 68-102-114 lists the information required for reporting. Please contact Greg Adams at Greg.Adams@tn.gov or by phone at 615-532-5844 if you have any questions or if you need additional information.
