RE: Qualifications of Members of State Board
Re: Section 43-1802 R.C. 1943
Your letter of September 13, asking our interpretation of the above
section, has been received and referred to my desk.
It is our opinion that neither of the members of the board who are
required to be plumbers are required to be licensed plumbers at the
time of their appointment. If they have been residents of the state
for five years and have had five years' experience in the plumbing
business in the classification to which they belong, they are
eligible for appointment. To require them to be licensed at the time
of their appointment would add a qualification not required by the
law.
